20% Genius Time

Problem: We lack the skills to make spears.

What we want to do: We want to learn how to make spears and hunt eels with them.

Next steps? Our next steps are to learn how to cook them.

Who could help us with this? Matua T could help us learn how to make the spears and learn how to cook them.

  1. Kia ora Louis, Kahutia and Witana. When we have discussed your 20% ideas you had thought the idea of exploring catching Tuna and gathering kai from the river further than just make a spearing, catching and eating the Tuna.
    Ideas that we discussed were:
making a utility traditional spear, traps and nets to use
making a finely made traditional spear, traps and net for display to use as a visual learning tool for others
finding out about the tikanga of hunting Tuna and other species in the Otaki River
Putting together what you learn and experience as a recording, film, display for the Otaki Museum exhibition in 2021.

I would like you to discuss this as a group and start your detailed plan of how you will achieve this.

Matua T, I am sure would like to get involved and you will need to negotiate this with him.
